The Gliderdrome as it appears today is a vastly different building to the original which was, in fact, an open air skating rink opened in the mid-Thirties by brothers Ernest and Sydney Malkinson. It soon attracted many of the younger Boston population and changes began just after the outbreak of the Second World War when the building was roofed. The Gliderdrome is an entertainment centre that offers live acts and bingo on a regular basis. Membership is free, although you should take proof of age if you are lucky enough to look under 21. There is live music most Saturday nights, and with a game of bingo at the same venue, this could be a good choice for a night out in Boston.
